WIBI 2021-2022 Members Announced: January 10, 2022

  • Submit a two-minute video (one minute of introduction, one minute of singing) to the Google Form linked here

  • The song can be any song, however, we recommend selecting something contemporary as WIBI typically performs contemporary arrangements

Two Things to Keep in Mind!

  • You MUST be able to attend Monday and Wednesday rehearsals from 6:30pm-9:30pm throughout the school year (online or in-person)

  • You MUST be able to attend our mandatory fall retreat during the Winter term (in-person)

Ask us if you have any questions regarding this!

Is WIBI limited to music majors?

WIBI is open to any and all applicants! We have several non-music major members.

What voice sections are needed?

We are primarily looking for lower voices (ie: tenor, baritones, and basses) and vocal percussion! However, we will consider other voice types as well.

Do I have to be a York University student?

No, however, we do prefer York students as WIBI is registered as a York University club.

Do I need to sing the whole song?

Nope! Please choose a section of a song that best highlights your ability in under a minute.

What genre would be best?

Preferably pop, R&B, indie, and other contemporary songs to be consistent with WIBI's typical repertoire.

What if I miss the deadline?

Reach out to us! We will review these applications on a case-by-case basis given that we are provided advanced notice. However, please do your best to submit your audition on time.

What do rehearsals look like this year?

We will be having two mandatory rehearsals each week: either in-person or online (subject to change).

Can I re-audition if I didn't/don't get in?

You are more than welcome to reaudition to WIBI once auditions have reopened! If you are a returning auditionee, feel free to audition as well.

How much music does WIBI learn?

We learn approximately eight (8) charts per semester.

What does WiBI look for in auditionees?

People who are enthusiastic, motivated to learn, and excited to make great music! However, for this season, in particular, we are looking for lower voices and vocal percussionists.

When will I hear back from you?

Expect to hear back from us around two or three days after auditions close!

Who will watch my audition video?

Primarily the Executive Team, however, we may consult other members if we are considering you for an interview.

Do I need to know how to read sheet music?

While it would be useful, WIBI also provides MIDI tracks for individual parts to cater to auditory learners.

Any other questions? Feel free to email us or message us on one of our social media platforms!
